The Associated Retirement Community Operators (ARCO) sets the standards for the retirement community sector in Britain and their Executive Director, Michael Voges was calfordseaden’s guest at a recent breakfast meeting for Registered Providers.
The meeting’s topic was ‘Extra care and retirement villages: New business models in a growing sector’ Michael presented an overview of the retirement sector and was able to provide examples of all tenures from the UK and across the world. Michael believes one of the key areas in the UK where there is a huge opportunity for developers, and especially Registered Providers, is in the Middle Market for both sale and rental.
Michael cited the Australian and New Zealand models where there is a transparency on event fees. Deferred payments are also making a positive contribution to residents’ lives by providing certainty and making service charges more affordable.
The breakfast meeting was well attended and extremely well received. Please contact John Spence, one of our retirement housing specialists, for more information.
