calfordseaden narrowly misses out on trophy at football tournament

calfordseaden was invited to compete in the local 5-a-side Dedman Grey football tournament alongside 7 other competing teams.

The calfordseaden team included: Adam Reeve, Ben Barlow, Michael Anderson, Nigel Franklin and Patrick Everitt (with 2 blood-relations to make up the substitutes). This was the first time this team had ever played together and had to gel quickly or face getting knocked out of the tournament early.

With Patrick ‘Usain Bolt’ Everitt, Michael ‘The Tactician’ Anderson and Adam ‘Paul Scholes’ Reeve providing the goals, Ben ‘The Rock’ Barlow pulling the strings at the back and Nigel ‘Peter Schmeichel’ Franklin providing the magic between the sticks, our team qualified for the knockout stages by topping their group with almost 30 goals scored from just two games! This included knocking out the hosts of the tournament.

The team reached the quarter finals and were narrowly knocked out by the eventual winners.

After playing their three games consecutively, the whole team were rightfully knackered and are currently in a state of ‘recovery’.

The team then celebrated their collective efforts by visiting the bar and for some well-deserved beverages!

It was a great event and we are looking forward to competing in more competitions in the future.
