With over 25 years’ M&E experience and a Professional Doctorate (PrD) under his belt, Dr Terry Keech has now featured Building magazine discussing his research into the barriers of achieving low carbon social housing.
A huge thank you to Terry on his dedication to the field and his PrD, as well as giving the time and support for getting this piece written and published in the UK’s leading magazine for construction professionals.
Statistics from the article display some fundamental failings within the housing sector, including:
- 67% of contractors ad 83% of designers agree that monitoring installation is the least common activity undertaken on site
- 68% believe that the commissioning process is not fit for purpose
- 88% of those surveyed have no qualifications in low carbon technologies.
Despite these shocking statistics, Terry highlights that the gap between ‘intended performance’ and ‘actual performance’ is not being challenged and offers an insight into how this gap can in fact be closed.
