Mayor of Maidstone attends opening of Brunswick Street project

calfordseaden Associate Lee Walker joined local dignitaries at the official opening ceremony for Maidstone Borough Council’s Brunswick Street housing development last week.

The development and its sister project on Union Street are the first ever council-led residential developments, with calfordseaden providing Architecture and Lead Designer services up to the point of planning consent for the 94-unit residential schemes.

The ceremony marked the start of work to prepare the site for development, following committee approval in January 2018 for a contribution of £34.2 million towards housing development and regeneration in the borough.

David Naghi, the Mayor of Maidstone, gave the opening ceremony speech, outlining the council’s plan for housing development on the Brunswick Street and Union Street sites.

In recognition of calfordseaden’s contribution, the Mayor thanked Lee and his team, applauding “the fantastic designs that enabled [Maidstone Borough Council] to gain full planning permission for both sites back in August and September last year”.

The development is scheduled for completion in September 2020.
