NAW 2025 – Rakhee Patel Instant Insights

Joining calfordseaden in 2013, Rakhee Patel started in an Admin role and has since transitioned into a CAD Technician and now an Electrical Engineer! Rakhee is currently studying Level 6 Building Services Design Engineering at London South Bank University, and plans to achieve IEng status later this year. Rakhee provides five instant insights on her experiences…

1. Completing surveys on existing installations provides a significant insight to allowances which are required for new installations.

2. Providing recommendations to ensure the project complies with changes in regulations and standards.

3. Maintaining competent and honest working relationships with clients, contractors, and fellow design team members, which can lead to some extra work!

4. Colleagues who have also worked and studied at the same time have been very understanding and supportive, which has been very encouraging especially when work and university deadlines are clashing.

5. I would encourage people to try to be comfortable with taking on new responsibilities at work, as this can be beneficial to your development in your career and create new and exciting opportunities.
