New Year, New Leadership

New Year, New Leadership

2026 is a milestone year for calfordseaden. Not only are we entering our 85th year, but we also enter a new chapter with Michael Anderson as our new Managing Partner. Our current Managing Partner, Paul Miller, will retire in March after 29 years with calfordseaden and 12 years as Managing Partner.

A Message from Paul

“I’ve always considered myself to be a custodian rather than an owner of the business. Helping its growth and diversification has been part of the pleasure of being the Managing Partner.

I’m also proud that, despite our growth we have kept our family feel as a business, remaining people focused and through this growth develop strong operational teams. It’s been a privilege to work alongside them and appreciate their unwavering support throughout this period.

Succession planning has been part of our Partnership fabric happening over many years, which helps smooth transition and Mike was a unanimous choice by all Equity Partners to take on the role of Managing Partner. He has been instrumental in developing our strategic business plan, based on a people focused foundation and we look forward to his leadership as we enter a new chapter.”

Strategic Clarity, Cultural Continuity

This change in leadership aligns with our newly developed three year strategic plan for 2026-2029, and marks a well-planned strategy not only for succession but to modernising governance, while preserving our core values.

“Having been with calfordseaden for 11 years, with the last six years as an Equity Partner, my focus has progressively moved from ‘working in’ the business to ‘working on’ the business and I’m honoured to have been chosen to take on the role of Managing Partner by the Equity Partners.

Over the last 10 years we have achieved revenue growth of up to 48%, underpinned by people growth of 60%. During this period our journey has taken us from a flat structure to a functional structure, with a focus on the need to develop operational teams to support this growth, alongside improved management and embracing technology…and through some unprecedented times too!

But our greatest achievement is that we have not only grown in size, we have fostered our culture of continuous improvement, supporting, developing and seeing our talented people flourish, whilst continuing to deliver a high-quality service to clients.

As part of our Strategic Plan for 2026–2029 there will be further evolution to our operating structure which will further empower next generation of leadership, whilst providing strategic clarity with cultural continuity.”

New Partnership Chair Role

We will share more on this over the coming months, but one of the first updates we are delighted to announce is that Ben Furr will assume the new Partnership Chair role.

In our updated leadership structure, the Partnership Chair will be key to supporting the separation of governance and business operations, enabling greater strategic clarity, operating efficiencies, and the provision of wider resilience.

“I originally joined calfordseaden in 2000, and having left I re-joined in 2015. During this period away from calfordseaden I worked alongside Mike, so we have been working closely for over 15 years and I look forward to continuing our strong working relationship.

The construction industry and scale of the business have developed and adapted in recent years. Hence the governance of our business will be vital for our continued growth and to respond to market challenges. Through the creation of this new Partnership Chair role and working closely alongside the Managing Partner in our updated structure, we are ready to build on our solid foundations to achieve continued success.”

Building Forwards

We all extend our sincere thanks to Paul for his stewardship, dedication, and contributions to calfordseaden over the past 29 years. Everyone at calfordseaden wishes him all the best in his well-earned retirement.

As we look ahead, our redefined leadership is a key milestone in our strategy, building for the future and sustained growth, and we are excited to support Michael and Ben in their new roles.
