Property Week Feature – Energy strategies must avoid ‘performance gap’

We have recently featured in the Spring 2020 edition of PW Perspectives – Property Week‘s publication of thought leadership essays from some of the biggest names in the industry.

Following the recent completion of his PhD degree, Dr. Chris Marien (MEP Engineer and Partner at calfordseaden) offers his recommendations for avoiding the ‘performance gap’ by focusing on long-term performance not just short-term compliance.

For his dissertation ‘Design Intent Compared With Performance in Practice’, Chris explored how the house building industry is adopting the London Plan energy policy into their development proposals and whether the policies which promote the adoption and implantation of heat networks and CHP are leading to the anticipated reductions in COemissions. Chris builds on the findings on his dissertation research, along with his extensive experience in the industry, to form the basis of his recommendations in the feature piece.
