Student accommodation completed in Cardiff

calfordseaden’s Mechanical and Electrical Engineering team have recently completed Arofan House, a new student accommodation building in Cardiff.

The M&E team provided construction phase services, representing the developer and end user to ensure the work completed by the contractor was to the required specification and standard. Once this was completed, they undertook a commissioning exercises and load tests to ensure all building systems were fit for purpose and ready for occupation.

The new building provides 280 bedrooms for students along with communal dining and study areas. The accommodation is located in the heart of Cardiff, just a 10 minute walk from Cardiff University and the University of Wales.

calfordseaden’s M&E team are also working on another three student accommodation buildings for the same client, totalling over 2000 bedrooms across the three buildings. Our team will be carrying out similar duties during the construction phase, in addition to the feasibility and energy strategies that were carried out prior to planning permission being granted. Once planning permission was granted, our team compiled the Employer’s Requirements and took part in the tender exercise, due diligence and negotiation.
