The Future of Built Environment Skills

The Future of Built Environment Skills

Nigel Franklin recently attended the Future of Built Environment Skills seminar at City Hall in London.

The event was organised by the London Borough of Bexley and showcased the ideas and proposals of the Place & Making Institute (http://www.placeandmakinginstitute.co.uk/).

The Place & Making Institute is a new initiative partnered by the London Borough of Bexley, Peabody and London South East Colleges, and has outlined the challenges and opportunities facing London. As ongoing growth in the capital is inevitable, work needs to be done to tackle the skills, training and recruitment shortages that are widely reported. The Place & Making Institute is hoping to achieve this and will be a centre of excellence for built environment related learning, research, innovation and enterprise where a confederation of learning providers come together in one place to tackle these challenges.
