We are delighted to announce that our project, The Meadows, has been shortlisted for both the ‘Building Project of the Year under £10 million’ category in the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards and the ‘Residential’ and ‘Design through Innovation’ categories in the RICS East of England Awards.
Our team provided architectural and principal designer services for the project, which has seen the transformation of a derelict brownfield site into nine modern homes for the executive or large family housing market. The scheme utilised modern methods of design and construction and a highly sustainable, fabric-first approach.
We worked alongside an excellent team, including client Genus Domus and contractor Kind & Co, to produce completed units boasting a number of award-worthy features:
- A design approach which reflected the individual character of each unit and combined pitched and disconnected roofs, rendered panelling and coloured weatherboard
- A high level of community engagement which earned above-average scores for the scheme’s Considerate Contractors site reports
- Utilisation of the scheme for a pilot project to monitor energy usage and performance in two of the newly built homes thus improving energy efficiency in future projects
- Timber frame construction which provides all the sustainable credentials and natural insulating properties of timber
The winners will be announced at the RICS Awards ceremony on 15th May 2019 and the CE SECBE Awards gala dinner on 27th June 2019.
