Women in the Industry – Jessica Lawrence

Ahead of International Women’s Day on Saturday 8th March, we will be celebrating the journeys and achievements the amazing women at calfordseaden! We are kicking things off with Jessica Lawrence…

1. Jessica has worked as an Assistant Clerk of Works for approximately four years and has around nine and a half years’ experience within the construction industry.

2. Her role entails completing site reports after site inspections, conducting snagging inspections, and end of defects inspections.

3. She is studying a Quality Control Management Foundation Degree through the Quantity Surveyors International (QSi). Despite going back to school after a big gap, Jessica has has achieved high grades within her first few modules!

4. Two major projects that Jessica has helped bring to life are St Crispin’s House in Norwich and Cherry Hinton Hub Library in Cambridge.

5. She aims to complete her university course, become a full Clerk of Works, and subsequently achieve full membership in the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI).

“A piece of advice I would like to provide for women looking to get into the construction industry is to never give up trying and always maintain self-belief. At times, you may think the job is not right for you, but I recommend persevering and working hard to overcome those doubts. You may find it tough initially, but your achievements and progress will be recognised and opportunities will arise.”
