calfordseaden was appointed for the delivery of Employer’s Agent and Principal Designer services for Beamhouse Yard, located on Surrey Street, Croydon’s historic street market.

The scheme consists of the demolition of the existing building and the construction of an eight-storey development delivering 60 new one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, including 18 homes for affordable rent and 5000sqft of flexible commercial space on the lower ground and ground floors. The scheme also includes a purpose-built arts and music venue.

The development will include all associated public realm improvements and landscaping including courtyard area with car parking and cycle parking. The site is situated at the corner of Surrey Street and Matthews Yard; the entrance to the street market, which has remained operational during construction.
