calfordseaden was appointed to provide Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying services for this extra care scheme.

The scheme involved the demolition and replacement of the existing sheltered housing scheme with the provision of three new build low rise blocks with links to an adjoining day centre.

The new blocks contain 66 extra care units and day centre and 18 units available for shared ownership exclusively for people aged over 55 (OSPO). The site is a disposal from Lambeth Council and land ownership will not be transferred to Notting Hill Housing until Practical Completion.

Architects undertook extensive consultation with the existing residents of Cheviot Gardens to develop an understanding of their requirements and ideas for the designs. The single level, self contained apartments provide an open plan living room and kitchen with the addition of outdoor space. All residents have access to the landscaped gardens, communal lounge, hair salon, therapist room, IT suite and cafe on site.

The adjoining day centre consists of catering and restaurant areas, a hairdressing salon, offices, meeting room, assisted bathrooms, wheelchair recharging points and amenity areas.
