Leaside Lock is a collection of new homes, split across 3 phases, in the Greater London Authorities’ Stratford Opportunity Area. calfordseaden was appointed as CDM Advisor to Leaside Lock for a collection of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments. 

Within three minutes’ walk to Bromley, this scheme is set on the canal and provides external amenity space, workspaces, retail and leisure spaces. The project also opens up the subway from Bromley By Bow Tube Station to the East of the A12, improving the journey to ELAM (East London Art and Music School) and Three Mills Island.

In our role as the Client CDM Advisor we have been supporting the client in their duty to Manage and Monitor the Principal Designer during the pre-construction phase and the Principal Contractor during the construction phase. During the design phases our CDM specialists have worked closely with the Principal Designer, designers, client and the client’s facilities teams to look at each building holistically, reviewing buildability, use, maintenance and the eventual demolition of the structures.

Health has been a major consideration on this scheme, with dust minimisation being a priority. This is not just for the operatives and staff working at the site, but for the neighbouring residents, and business and staff.
