The site for this project is adjacent to the Sikh Temple and Sikh Community football pitches. The Mikha Centre specialises in Football Kabaddi and Boxing but offers a wide range of fitness activities. The Brief was to obtain planning approval for a new Sports Hall and fitness rooms along with changing rooms for the football pitches. calfordseaden designed the Sikh temple on the adjacent site using traditional details including detailed stone carvings. The design for the Sports Hall is of a modern design to visually separate the two buildings.

Main Hall
This will accommodate a 5-a-side football and basketball court. The floor is 27x34m with a 7.5m clear height. The seating shown in the artist impression is retractable and would only be used occasionally for competition events. There are a maximum of 120 seats.

Dance Studio
A room approximately 12x16m and 4.5m high. It will have a sprung floor and mirrors to the side walls. The room is designed for Dance but suitable for many other fitness activities.

Boxing Room
Slightly smaller than the dance studio at 12x12m. It will be fully equipped for boxing including a roped off boxing ring.

Changing Rooms
Much of the lower ground floor is taken up with the separate changing rooms for indoor and outdoor sports with separate changing rooms for those with disabilities.

There is also a small sports protein bar next to the main lobby providing refreshments for the members. The remainder of the lower ground floor is taken up by the under croft car and cycle parking area. There is parking for 26 cars (including two wheelchair accessible bays). There are 35 cycle racks at the rear which can be used by the Sports Hall and the education building.
