calfordseaden was appointed to provide various services to the client, Raven Housing Trust, for the demolition of the existing buildings and structures on site, including the former Pells Church of England Primary School. The scheme will then see the redevelopment, design and construction of 32 new homes, associated infrastructure services and external works at Pells in Lewes.
This scheme is located within the South Downs National Park, therefore, strict requirements from planning have been put into place and calfordseaden hold fortnightly meetings to monitor any potential delays to the programme.
During our employment, calfordseaden has been closely monitoring the progress and budget of the scheme due to the contractor’s inexperience in delivering affordable housing and the terms of a JCT Design and Build contract.
Factory produced homes are being used in this scheme as they are quicker to build, reduce construction waste, and have less impact on the local community during construction.
