Princess Alexandra Care Home

Stanmore

calfordseaden is commissioned on this scheme to perform the role of Principal Designer Advisor. This scheme involves the demolition of an existing 14,000m2 72 bed care home and the construction of a new 3 storey residential care home facility providing 64 units of assisted living studios and independent living flats.

The visionary design which will be built alongside the existing care home brings external facilities into the development including a Synagogue, day centre, restaurant, activity rooms, gym, post office, hairdressers, doctors and guest facilities, which allows greater independence for those unable to leave the care home due to mobility issues

The development will be completed across two phases, with the existing care home remaining in operation to minimise disruption to residents.

Vast enabling works are also included in this scheme which involve the move of telephone cables, utilities diversions, creation of new roads and security access.

We are faced with a number of challenges on this development which include various level changes and ponds, poisonous plants tree Preservation Orders and a large number of trees and shrubs which affect the creation of new roads.
