calfordseaden was appointed to work on a residential development scheme of 50 high-quality social rent homes with a mixture of apartments and houses.
The site consists of a greenfield site of 13,500sqm located between two residential estates with mature trees. The development includes the provision of an access road to the dwellings and parking with electric vehicle charging stations to accommodate a total of 50 available spaces.
The apartment block comprises three storeys in two cores. The houses are terraced and located along the road with private back gardens.
The client’s steering was to develop a scheme where the running costs and carbon emissions were reduced beyond minimum Part L Regulations.
The proposal for the apartments was based on a hybrid communal system with low carbon ASHP assisted by gas boilers. The plant assists a communal system which serves the heat interface units within each dwelling. The proposal for the houses was based on 100% individual ASHP units located in the rear garden with a smart cylinder within the dwellings.
