The North West Cambridge Development (NWCD) project is a mixed use development on a 150 hectare site that combines residential housing, academic and research facilities, infrastructure and public amenities, including the Storey’s Field Centre and Eddington Nursery.

This award winning ‘Landmark’ building has been designed to deliver the University’s aspiration for a high calibre building.

Catering 100 pre-school children, the nursery has been designed to include secure outdoor play and ancillary support spaces. It is focused around the garden, with external circulation by way of a covered cloister, which allows for sheltered play.

The cloister also negates the need for internal circulation, allowing the classrooms to engage directly with the Landscape, and the award winning, Marks Barfield Architect’s Primary School to the Northern boundary.

calfordseaden provided NEC Supervisor services for the project, which was commissioned under a NEC3 Contract.
