calfordseaden was appointed to provide Employer’s Agent and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering services to this high-quality affordable housing development in Dunstable.

The scheme provides 61 new build residential units comprising 38 houses for shared ownership and 23 two bedroom flats and one wheelchair accessible flat within a single four-storey block.

The name ‘ The Printworks’ was chosen to reflect Dunstable’s former printing industry. The town’s straw plaiting industry is also depicted with a lattice brickwork design, and role as a key stagecoach posting town reflected in the car ports that link the houses and in the overall streetscape. Solar panels are installed across the development.

Built during the Covid pandemic, the scheme was one of the first sites to reopen after the national lockdowns.
