calfordseaden acted as Employer’s Agent and Technical Advisor on this 12,500 sq ft scheme. The new build centre is the new home of the Vine Medical Centre, a well established GP surgery which has relocated from its old premise. The new build medical centre provides accommodation for a GP surgery and integrated pharmacy for the 9,200 patients in the local area.

The new building was developed and funded by Assura and was designed according to the needs and views of the GP’s, practice staff and patients established through a number of consultation meetings. The new centre provides a welcoming atmosphere along with functional and efficient consultation/treatment rooms. The building also houses a counselling facility which is located within a self contained suite with an office space and therapy rooms.

The building has been designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating due to the sustainable technologies adopted for this scheme; these include: photovoltaic cells, a combined heat and power plant and a ‘living wall’ which provides planting on the external walls of the building, helping the building to blend in with its surroundings.

“This project has been a long-awaited dream for The Vine Medical Centre, so we’re very pleased to see the end of construction and the GPs settling in. With the bespoke design of the building patients now have the benefit of the modern facilities, as well as the convenience of an on-site pharmacy.”
