calfordseaden provided Employer’s Agent services to the client, Brent Council, for the design and construction of Unity Place, a regeneration project in South Kilburn. This scheme is part of a larger 20-year-long regeneration project which will see 2,400 new homes created on the South Kilburn Estate.

The scheme delivered a total of 235 high-quality homes, made up of 122 affordable rent homes, 133 market sale homes, 93 parking spaces and associated landscaping and community hub space.

The site was divided into two plots, Plot 5, which consisted four blocks ranging from 4-6 storeys high, and Plot 4, consisting of four blocks ranging from 4-8 storeys high. These blocks aimed to re-establish the historic street patterns and adopt the area’s mansion block building type.

Our role included but was not limited to, reporting and monitoring on cost, programme and quality of works, communicating and coordinating the professional team, and advising the client on value engineering opportunities.

The scheme also incorporates an underground District Energy Network which will supply heating and hot water to both the existing and new buildings site-wide in a more efficient and sustainable manner.
