I joined calfordseaden as an Administrator Assistant eight years ago and have worked my way up to my current position of Senior Secretary. calfordseaden supported and encouraged my decision to become a secretary and provided the necessary training.
calfordseaden has grown significantly since I joined in 2000, and I think we have done really well to hold onto our values of looking after staff and providing a really high level of service to clients. Despite the growing size of the practice, we still have a real community feel and our people are truly valued.

The biggest event in the calendar by far is our Summer Event. Past years have seen us taking over London Zoo, travelling by Eurostar for lunch in Paris and a day of team building activities followed by an evening of bumper cars and music!

I have grown a lot at calfordseaden - from starting in the post room as a Scanning Assistant in 2013, to progressing to become a CAD Technician within the M&E team in 2015. Since joining calfordseaden as a Graduate Engineer eight years ago, I have been provided with the encouragement, opportunities and pathways to realise my ambitions. Within my time at calfordseaden I have risen to an Associate level and have obtained a Masters degree, Chartered Engineer status and now fulfilling a lifelong goal of conducting my own PhD research. At calfordseaden there is no limit beyond your own ambitions.
I joined calfordseaden in 2008 as a Defects Coordinator with the vision of expanding my knowledge in construction. With calfordseaden’s support, I enrolled onto a HNC in Building Studies which led onto a degree in Quantity Surveying. I now work as an Employer’s Agent, managing a variety of schemes and I thoroughly enjoy my job and thank calfordseaden and my colleagues for the continual encouragement and assistance they provide for me to achieve my career goals.
As a recent graduate from Anglia Ruskin University and benefitting from calfordseaden’s day release programme, I can honestly say that working full time whilst studying has been one of the best decisions I have made. It has allowed me to gain both theoretical and practical experience concurrently which has enhanced my learning as a Quantity Surveyor. The next step is to complete my APC so that I can become a Chartered Surveyor.

I am currently halfway through my MSc Building Surveying course at London Southbank University and working at calfordseaden alongside has been of huge benefit. The staff are brilliant, with support groups for candidates undertaking their APC qualifications a notable attribute and through studying part-time, I have been able to combine the theoretical knowledge learnt within lectures with the practical experience of working in the construction industry.
I joined calfordseaden 10 years ago and my role has developed in that time. I joined as an Administrator but quickly began a Defects course, qualifying as a Defects Coordinator. I was then offered further training for a new role in the Sustainability team and through calfordseaden am now a qualified Code for Sustainable Homes and Home Quality Mark assessor.
